Garud sniper rifle RFI seeks new .50 BMG platform to replace Galils

The Indian Air Force has issued a Request for Information for a high power .50 BMG sniper rifle for its Garud special forces, to replace the Galil rifles now in service and add anti-materiel reach against light vehicles, radar sets and communication equipment. The specification also calls for a suppressor, day and thermal optics, and armour-piercing ammunition types.
