The Brian Mast delegation, a bipartisan group from the US House of Representatives, met Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh on Monday to discuss defence industrial and technological cooperation.

Representative Brian Mast, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, led the group. The Ministry of Defence described it as a bipartisan delegation from the House and posted photographs of the meeting on X.

The discussion centred on the evolving India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, with "special emphasis on defence industrial and technological cooperation," the ministry said.


A day after the Foreign Secretary's meeting

The delegation had met Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Sunday. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson said the talks covered the full range of India-US relations, including the recently enacted Lindsey O Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026 and the future trajectory of ties. The two sides also exchanged views on energy security, counter-terrorism and freedom of navigation, the spokesperson added.

The ministry placed the Brian Mast delegation's meeting with the Defence Secretary on the defence industrial and technology track.

The framework behind India-US defence ties

The Defence Minister and the US Secretary of War signed a ten year Defence Framework on 31 October 2025, on the sidelines of the 12th ADMM Plus in Kuala Lumpur, according to the Ministry of Defence annual report for 2025-26. The Indian Navy and US Indo-Pacific Command also renewed their Maritime Defence Information Sharing and Cooperation technical arrangement for five years from 26 October 2025.

Underwater domain awareness roadmap

An 18th Defence Policy Group meeting in March 2026 exchanged an underwater domain awareness roadmap between the two navies, the report said.

Recent India-US defence engagements

US Ambassador Sergio Gor watched Indian and US troops fire together at the Mahajan Field Firing Ranges during Yudh Abhyas 2026 on 24 September, alongside the GOC 10 Corps.

At the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore earlier this year, Singh also met a bipartisan US Congressional delegation led by Representative Pat Harrigan, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, and reaffirmed the India-US defence partnership, the ministry said at the time.
