India at Land Forces 2026 is being represented through an India Pavilion set up by the Department of Defence Production (DDP), Ministry of Defence, with BEML Ltd, Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL) and DRDO presenting a wide range of defence platforms, systems and technologies in Perth, Australia. The exposition opened on Tuesday at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre and runs until Thursday.
Kajari Biswas, Consul General of India in Perth, inaugurated the pavilion. Manoj Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General, DDP, is leading it.
Armoured platforms and missile systems on the India Pavilion
The showcase covers armoured and high-mobility platforms, missile systems and advanced defence technologies. Aatmanirbhar Bharat, innovation and defence exports are the three themes the display is built around.
The three exhibitors work at different ends of the land systems business. BEML, the Bengaluru-headquartered defence public sector undertaking, builds high-mobility vehicles and heavy engineering equipment alongside its mining and rail lines. BDL in Hyderabad manufactures guided missiles for the armed forces, among them the Akash surface-to-air missile and anti-tank guided missiles. DRDO sits behind much of what both companies produce, as the developer of the underlying systems. Branding on the stand carries the DDP and Ministry of Defence identity, with a separate BEML meeting room inside the pavilion.
Land Forces comes to Perth for the first time
Land Forces is Australia's largest land defence exhibition, held every two years by the AMDA Foundation with the backing of the Australian Army. This is its first edition in Perth, after earlier rotations through Adelaide, Brisbane and Melbourne. The Western Australian government's Defence West agency is hosting local small and medium firms on its own stand.
The 2024 edition in Melbourne drew around 25,000 people, delegations from 46 countries and 995 exhibitors, according to official figures released ahead of this year's show.
BEML led India's stand in Melbourne
India at Land Forces is not a first. BEML led the India Pavilion at the 2024 edition in Melbourne, held from 11 to 13 September that year, alongside DRDO and Yantra India Ltd. This year's line-up pairs BEML and DRDO with BDL, under the DDP banner.
India at Land Forces as Australia ties deepen
The exposition comes three months after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese signed a renewed Joint Declaration on Defence and Security Cooperation in Melbourne in July. It commits both sides to wider defence industry cooperation.
Indian Coast Guard Ship Shaunak sailed from Chennai to Perth last month under the Quad-at-Sea Ship Observer Mission, with Sea Riders from all four Quad nations aboard.
Biswas has headed the Consulate General of India in Perth since July 2025.
Defence exports push behind the DDP pavilion
The Department of Defence Production fields India Pavilions at overseas defence shows as part of the export drive. Defence exports touched a record Rs 38,424 crore, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said in an address in New Delhi last month, with indigenisation lists, iDEX and private industry participation feeding the numbers.
BDL's Akash has already gone abroad. Armenia operates the system, and further Akash orders are in discussion, the Defence Secretary said earlier this month while setting out the government's export pipeline.
